Vietnamese State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc was formally welcomed by his Singaporean counterpart Halimah Yacob on Friday morning within the framework of his state visit to Singapore from Thursday to Saturday.
The welcome ceremony for President Phuc, his spouse, and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation was organized at The Istana, the Vietnam Government Portal reported.
The Vietnamese and Singaporean presidents had a meeting following the ceremony.
As part of his state visit, President Phuc is also slated to join talks with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and witness the signing of cooperation documents between the two nations’ ministries and sectors.

Earlier the same day, President Phuc convened meetings with chairman of the Singapore Business Federation Lim Ming Yan, as well as executives of leading Singaporean groups including Sembcorp Industries, Keppel Corporation, Surbana Jurong Group, and CMIA Capital Partners.
The Vietnamese head of state praised the groups for their effective investment in Vietnam and called for the implementation of more projects in various fields, especially clean energy and sustainable development.
He also urged authorities in Vietnam to provide favorable conditions for the Singaporean businesses to carry out their investment projects.
