Vietnamese health ministry logs 48,717 more coronavirus patients

The Ministry of Health documented 48,717 COVID-19 patients throughout Vietnam on Monday, in addition to 55,873 recoveries and 42 virus-associated deaths.

The newest cases, including two imported and 48,715 domestic transmissions, were detected in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said, elaborating that 34,690 contracted the pathogen in the community.

Hanoi registered 5,868 of the latest local cases, Dak Lak Province 3,925, Bac Giang Province 2,649, Nghe An Province 2,300, Quang Ninh Province 1,996, Bac Kan Province 1,028, Hai Duong Province 940, Quang Binh Province 909, Lam Dong Province 679, Ca Mau Province 655, Ho Chi Minh City 537, Da Nang 532, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 461, Tay Ninh Province 454, Ben Tre Province 381, Hai Phong City 288, Quang Nam Province 264, Thua Thien-Hue Province 237, Khanh Hoa Province 150, and Can Tho City 21.

The health ministry announced 102,046 infections on Sunday.

Vietnam has confirmed 9,859,306 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Upwards of 7.8 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Hanoi is on top of the caseload with 1,502,313 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 596,940, Nghe An Province 402,907, Binh Duong Province with 379,064, Hai Duong Province 348,055, Bac Ninh Province 329,286, Ca Mau Province 145,366, Tay Ninh Province with 131,374, Hai Phong City 117,154, Binh Phuoc Province 112,783, Dong Nai Province with 106,224, Da Nang with 96,173, and Can Tho City with 49,126.

Vietnam reported only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry recorded 55,873 recovered patients on Monday, raising the national count to 7,843,835.

The toll has climbed to 42,642, with 42 pathogen-related mortalities added today.

Vietnam has logged 9,867,045 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have given over 206.5 million vaccine doses, including 29,022 shots on Sunday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

More than 189.3 million doses have been administered to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 71,245,934 first shots, 68,065,429 second doses, 14,941,945 additional primary jabs, and 33,598,648 boosters.

A combined 17.192.744 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,809,470 first doses and 8,383,274 second jabs.
