Vietnam reports a total of 101,828 new coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health logged 101,828 more COVID-19 patients in Vietnam on Sunday, alongside 35,866 hospital discharges and 94 virus-related fatalities.

The newest cases, including 24 imported and 101,804 domestic transmissions, were documented in 61 provinces and cities, the health ministry said in a daily update.

Phu Tho Province announced 17,403 of the latest local cases, including 14,838 added from previous days; Hanoi 11,517; Quang Ninh Province 5,997; Lang Son Province 4,960; Hung Yen Province 3,225; Bac Ninh Province 3,037; Nghe An Province 2,941; Nam Dinh Province 2,764; Vinh Phuc Province 2,758; Son La Province 2,509; Tuyen Quang Province 2,350; Hoa Binh Province 2,298; Lao Cai Province 2,272; Hai Duong Province 2,226; Hai Phong City 2,114; Ninh Binh Province 2,031; Dak Lak Province 2,012; Bac Giang Province 1,999; Yen Bai Province 1,994; Ho Chi Minh City 1,969; Khanh Hoa Province 1,260; Da Nang 978; Binh Duong Province 799; Lam Dong Province 702; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 669; Quang Nam Province 462; Thua Thien-Hue Province 205; and Can Tho City 50.

Vietnam had recorded 98,876 locally-transmitted infections on Saturday.

The country has detected 3,313,653 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Above 2.4 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Ho Chi Minh City is on top of the list with 528,265 patients, followed by Binh Duong Province with 297,055, Hanoi with 259,302, Dong Nai Province with 101,130, Tay Ninh Province with 90,175, Bac Ninh Province 75,085, Hai Phong City 65,232, Ca Mau Province 61,386, Binh Phuoc Province 56,278, Da Nang with 55,511, Dong Thap Province with 47,986, Vinh Long Province 45,579, Can Tho City with 45,006, Long An Province with 42,281, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province with 38,452, An Giang Province with 35,892, Tien Giang Province with 35,480, and Binh Thuan Province with 31,978.

Vietnam reported only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

Hospitals discharged 35,866 patients on Sunday, elevating the national count to 2,411,912.

The toll has increased to 40,144, with 94 pathogen-linked mortalities added today.

Vietnam has confirmed 3,321,005 patients in total, including 205 imported and community-based Omicron infections, since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have administered over 193.4 million vaccine doses, including 125,533 shots on Saturday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

More than 176.6 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 70,856,765 first shots, 67,205,932 second doses, 13,699,350 additional primary jabs, and 23,447,367 boosters.

A total of 16,756,688 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,621,505 first doses and 8,135,183 second jabs.
