The Ministry of Health confirmed 92,355 COVID-19 patients in Vietnam on Thursday, along with 250,482 recoveries and 39 virus-linked fatalities.
The newest cases, including 11 imported and 92,344 domestic transmissions, were documented in 62 provinces and cities, the health ministry said in a daily update.
Hung Yen Province logged 13,301 of the latest local cases, including 11,517 added from previous days; Hanoi 8,054; Phu Tho Province 3,415; Nghe An Province 3,399; Yen Bai Province 3,156; Dak Lak Province 3,107; Bac Giang Province 2,688; Quang Ninh Province 2,509; Lang Son Province 2,159; Bac Ninh Province 1,653; Vinh Long Province 1,642; Binh Dinh Province 1,437; Lam Dong Province 1,264; Ho Chi Minh City 924; Binh Duong Province 827; Da Nang 736; Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 688; Thua Thien-Hue Province 589; Khanh Hoa Province 386; and Can Tho City 101.
The health ministry registered 85,765 infections on Wednesday.
Vietnam has detected 9,556,876 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. Upwards of 7.5 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.
Hanoi has been severely affected with 1,474,984 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 594,585, Nghe An Province 391,871, Binh Duong Province with 376,566, Hai Duong Province 344,058, Bac Ninh Province 324,925, Ca Mau Province 142,033, Tay Ninh Province with 128,484, Hai Phong City 115,939, Dong Nai Province with 106,049, Binh Phuoc Province 110,257, Da Nang with 93,963, and Can Tho City with 48,931.
Vietnam reported only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.
The health ministry recorded 250,482 recovered patients on Thursday, elevating the national count to 7,519,013.
The toll has increased to 42,493, with 39 virus-related mortalities added today.
Vietnam has announced 9,564,609 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.
Health workers have administered over 206 million vaccine doses, including 224,848 shots on Wednesday, since vaccination was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.
Nearly 189 million doses have been given to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 71,234,891 first shots, 68,040,384 second doses, 14,913,043 additional primary jabs, and 33,237,669 boosters.
A combined 17,177,375 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,803,806 first doses and 8,373,569 second jabs.
