Việt Nam confirms 24,623 new COVID-19 infections

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam confirmed a total of 24,623 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, an increase of 1,819 compared to the caseload yesterday.

The number of new transmissions in Hà Nội continued to fall, with 1,727 cases recorded.

The capital continued reporting the highest number of infections nationwide. It was followed by the Phú Thọ, Vĩnh Phúc and Nghệ An with 1,627; 1,147; and 989 cases, respectively.

Other new transmissions were detected in Yên Bái (972), Đắk Lắk (943), Quảng Ninh (914), Hải Dương (897), Bắc Kạn (850), Hồ Chí Minh City (848), Tuyên Quang (779), Lào Cai (752), Bắc Giang (730), Thái Nguyên (566), Lâm Đồng (562), Cao Bằng (548), Lạng Sơn (513), Thái Bình (511), Quảng Bình (472), Hưng Yên (464), Bắc Ninh (434), Sơn La (425), Hòa Bình (422), Nam Định (390), Đà Nẵng (383), Tây Ninh (357), Quảng Trị (336), Lai Châu (316), Gia Lai (287), Cà Mau (286), Hà Tĩnh (286), Bình Dương (260), Bình Phước (255), Vĩnh Long (248), Ninh Bình (245), Quảng Nam (239), Hà Nam (238), Quảng Ngãi (237), Điện Biên (235), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (228), Bình Định (169), Hải Phòng (169), Bình Thuận (149), Thanh Hóa (136), Đắk Nông (136), Bến Tre (135), Hà Giang (118), Thừa Thiên Huế (116), Khánh Hòa (98), Phú Yên (88), Kiên Giang (81), An Giang (61), Long An (59), Trà Vinh (58), Bạc Liêu (32), Đồng Tháp (32), Kon Tum (22), Sóc Trăng (17), Đồng Nai (15), Cần Thơ (4), Ninh Thuận (4), Hậu Giang (3) and Tiền Giang (3).

The national COVID-19 tally has now reached 10,297,587

A total of 13,887 COVID-19 patients were given the all-clear, bringing the number of recoveries so far to 8,770,994.

There are 1,205 patients in serious condition, while an additional 20 COVID-related deaths were recorded.

The total number of fatalities relating to COVID-19 in Việt Nam stands at 42,878, equal to 0.4 per cent of infections.

208,810,706 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered in Việt Nam so far, including 17,230,350 for children aged 12-17 years old.

The country is starting vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 on Thursday. — VNS
