A downpour accompanied by a high tide submerged various areas in Ho Chi Minh City at dusk on Monday.

A very active northeast monsoon has worsened the weather condition in southern Vietnam, the southern hydro-meteorological station stated, adding that it is often cloudy and rainy early in the morning and in the evening.

In Ho Chi Minh City, rains began dampening the suburbs at around 5:00 pm on Monday before lashing the inner city and increasing in intensity.

The downpour, along with high tide, resulted in inundation along many streets, posing difficulties for commuters.

A similar weather pattern is forecast to repeat in the metropolis on Tuesday.

Although the rain volume will be lower, tidal water will remain high enough to cause flooding in many neighborhoods.

High tide is expected to peak at 1.6 meters from 3:00 am to 4:00 am and from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday and Wednesday.
