Another record daily COVID case count on Sunday

HÀ NỘI — There were 47,200 new COVID-19 infections recorded across the country on Sunday, the highest daily tally since the outbreak of the pandemic.

The new cases bring the country’s tally to 2,787,493, with 39,501 deaths and 2,281,434 recoveries since the start of the pandemic.

Currently, 2,347 patients have severe infections as of Sunday, 12 of them are on life support.

Out of the new daily transmissions, 33,851 were in the community.

The capital city of Hà Nội again registered the highest daily number of infections with 5,102 cases.

Other localities with four-digit cases are Bắc Ninh (2,360), Phú Thọ (1,981), Quảng Ninh (1,980), Thái Nguyên (1,838), Hòa Bình (1,797), Nam Định (1,754), Hải Phòng (1,698), Vĩnh Phúc (1,692), Ninh Bình (1,556), Bắc Giang (1,500), Nghệ An (1,467), Lào Cai (1,360), Hải Dương (1,316), Hà Tĩnh (1,294), Yên Bái (1,275), Thanh Hóa (1,220), Bình Định (1,019), Thái Bình (1,015) and Sơn La (1,007).

The remaining transmissions were found in Tuyên Quang (989), Quảng Bình (861), Hồ Chí Minh City (849), Lạng Sơn (808), Hưng Yên (789), Đắk Lắk (748), Đà Nẵng (720), Quảng Nam (697), Khánh Hòa (590), Cao Bằng (564), Phú Yên (553), Lâm Đồng (435), Quảng Trị (415), Đắk Nông (362), Điện Biên (358), Bình Phước (348), Lai Châu (332), Hà Nam (290), Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu (288), Gia Lai (286), Thừa Thiên Huế (224), Bình Dương (215), Bắc Kạn (190), Kon Tum (143), Hà Giang (139), Quảng Ngãi (130), Cà Mau (105), Bình Thuận (85), Kiên Giang (66), Tây Ninh (64), Bạc Liêu (63), Đồng Nai (53), Vĩnh Long (35), Bến Tre (33), Trà Vinh (29), An Giang (22), Cần Thơ (22), Sóc Trăng (13), Ninh Thuận (12), Đồng Tháp (12), Long An (10), Hậu Giang (8 ) and Tiền Giang (6).

A total of 78 COVID-related deaths were also recorded, taking the total number of fatalities to 39,501, accounting for 1.4 per cent of total infections.

Đà Nẵng saw the highest daily number of deaths with 7, followed by Nghệ An (7), and Kiên Giang (5).

There were a further 13,414 recoveries on Sunday, bringing the total number of people given the all-clear to 2,281,434.

Nearly 191.4 million doses of vaccines have been administered as of Sunday, of which more than 75.3 million people have been fully inoculated. — VNS
