54,995 new COVID-19 cases detected in 61 Vietnamese provinces, cities

Vietnam’s Ministry of Health recorded 54,995 coronavirus patients across the country on Tuesday, along with 303,455 recoveries and 39 virus-related deaths.

The newest cases, including all domestic transmissions, were reported in 61 provinces and cities, the health ministry said, adding that 38,040 caught the pathogen in the community.

Hanoi confirmed 5,199 of the latest local cases, Nghe An Province 2,925, Phu Tho Province 2,827, Bac Giang Province 2,357, Quang Ninh Province 1,972, Quang Ngai Province 1,504, Hai Duong Province 1,248, Ho Chi Minh City 1,158, Quang Binh Province 1,113, Lam Dong Province 930, Bac Ninh Province 731, Da Nang 586, Binh Duong Province 514, Phu Yen Province 393, Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province 347, Hai Phong Province 332, Quang Nam Province 269, and Can Tho City 43.

The Ministry of Health logged 48,717 infections on Monday.

Vietnam has documented 9,914,301 community transmissions in all its 63 provinces and cities since the fourth virus wave broke out on April 27, 2021. More than 8.1 million of them have recovered from COVID-19.

Hanoi tops the list with 1,507,512 patients, followed by Ho Chi Minh City with 598,098, Nghe An Province 405,832, Binh Duong Province with 379,578, Hai Duong Province 349,303, Bac Ninh Province 330,017, Ca Mau Province 146,092, Tay Ninh Province with 132,314, Hai Phong City 117,486, Binh Phuoc Province 113,234, Dong Nai Province with 106,262, Da Nang with 96,759, and Can Tho City with 49,169.

Vietnam found only 1,570 locally-transmitted infections in total in the previous three waves.

The health ministry announced 303,455 recovered patients on Tuesday, lifting the national count to 8,147,290.

The toll has increased to 42,681, with 39 pathogen-linked mortalities added today.

Vietnam has registered 9,922,040 cases in total since the COVID-19 pandemic first hit the country in early 2020.

Health workers have given above 207 million vaccine doses, including 469,316 shots on Monday, since inoculation was rolled out nationwide on March 8, 2021.

Upwards of 189.8 million doses have been administered to the adult demographic of the country’s 98 million people, including 71,249,659 first shots, 68,081,142 second doses, 14,957,246 additional primary jabs, and 34,035,863 boosters.

A combined 17,194,031 shots have been injected into children aged 12-17, including 8,810,098 first doses and 8,383,933 second jabs.
